What I’ve been up to: March 2017

Happy summer! Summer is my fave season and I’m so honored that I got to be the one to make the March 2017 journaling prompts for #HobonichPH:

Don’t forget to use the hashtag #HobonichiPHChallenge if you’re participating! 🙂

I had so many happy moments these past few days:

😙 I got to try and experiment and make my own handmade rose gold watercolor paint! Kinda obsessed with rose gold recently and I thought I’d try and make paint with this hue in mind:

Success! It took a lot of trial and error but happy with the outcome. Brought it with me to a mini artambay with my washi and sticker-loving friends yesterday.

😙 Got new washi tapes (first group buy and so worth it!) and mildliners yesterday and got to bond with friends:

😙 Attended the #ArtfairPH with K, her first time:

😙 I also painted mini abstract paintings which I turned to stickers using handpainted watercolors made by @seamountainco 🙂

😙 I uploaded several flipthroughs of my past journals and travel project life in my youtube channel, if you want to take a peek: http://tinyurl.com/mabuhaydiy2011journal

I hope March has been good to you too.

Super inspiring day: #realtalktambay

My tummy hurt because I was extremely nervous before giving my talk yesterday at #realtalktambay. I was invited to talk about creating consistently and talking about what I love is exciting for me but also nerve-wracking. 🙂

Happy to report that I didn’t faint while speaking! 🙂 Glad I got out of my comfort zone and happy I leapt into the fire and found out how nourishing it was haha (based on the latest Magic Lessons podcast which I am so enjoying!)

Here are the tips I shared:

Group photo! I enjoyed that the speakers and organizers wore similar colors lol:

I made my wallet cry from my visit to the newly-opened The Craft Central store in Greenbelt but it was worth it:

Before I slept around 4am because of too much tea last night I listened to the Magic Lessons podcast and made sleepy sketchnotes in the semi-dark: meaning I used my phone as light if I wanted to write something:

New artworks up on my wall!

Thank you universe and tita @ella_lama for this amazing learning opportunity 🙂

What I’ve been up to: April/May 2016

Having such a productive summer this year, filled with art and creative magic. 🙂

Started a series of after work capsule workshops for watercolor and here are my students! So proud of them:

I will be doing a journaling demo this May 7, in the Pagtitipon event above! See more details here: bit.ly/pagtitipon

I made the rubbercut bookplate and rubbercut stamps above, because I was so inspired by my collab with @kraftkart!  I designed book-themed stamps and she carved them by hand:

I also sold my handpainted gilded stickers at the BGC art mart this past weekend, sharing a booth with my good friend @ella_lama:

The day before that, my #artitas and I had a handmade sticker swap party and here’s my loot:

image

I have a handful of commission work that gets me excited and a trip coming up soon and I can’t be happier. Am also on day 14 of my #100daysofhandsketches in #the100dayproject and I am slowly being accustomed to drawing my hand without a pencil outline, so yay! 🙂

Hope you’re having a happy and productive summer as well. 🙂

Review: Bonding and unwinding with Obra coloring books from Sterling

image

These beautiful coloring books were a huge part of my weekend.

Last night, I met a friend I haven’t seen in a long time and we did a lot of catching up over coffee.

I taught her about color and watercolors (p.s. I have watercolor workshops in Makati, if you want to learn, go to: http://tinyurl.com/mabuhaydiyworkshop).

She applied what she learned to these coloring books and when her husband arrived, he also joined us:

The pages are filled with unique and inpsiring artworks waiting to be colored:

My cousin and I bonded over coloring this morning as well:

image

Still in awe of her color choices and combinations! 🙂

I’m happy that I got to bond and create art with my friends and family, and I think coloring artambays are great activities that would allow you to talk while still zoning out and being in the “flow”. 🙂

Disclosure: The items used in this post were samples provided by the brand. All opinions expressed are my own.

Art journal artambay

I just had the most awesome day today, I met up with friends I mostly met via instagram (and through common friends) and we had an art journal date!

image

(Thank you Reg for this photo!)

We spent most of the time admiring the foreign art books (in languages we can’t understand haha) and each other’s art journals and planners. Then we played with stamps 🙂

image

Afterwards we went to all bookstores in the area 🙂 Got myself a notebook, a few stickers and Supermutant Magic Academy 🙂

Thanks, Universe! My heart is so happy.
