What I’ve been up to: March 2017

Happy summer! Summer is my fave season and I’m so honored that I got to be the one to make the March 2017 journaling prompts for #HobonichPH:

Don’t forget to use the hashtag #HobonichiPHChallenge if you’re participating! 🙂

I had so many happy moments these past few days:

😙 I got to try and experiment and make my own handmade rose gold watercolor paint! Kinda obsessed with rose gold recently and I thought I’d try and make paint with this hue in mind:

Success! It took a lot of trial and error but happy with the outcome. Brought it with me to a mini artambay with my washi and sticker-loving friends yesterday.

😙 Got new washi tapes (first group buy and so worth it!) and mildliners yesterday and got to bond with friends:

😙 Attended the #ArtfairPH with K, her first time:

😙 I also painted mini abstract paintings which I turned to stickers using handpainted watercolors made by @seamountainco 🙂

😙 I uploaded several flipthroughs of my past journals and travel project life in my youtube channel, if you want to take a peek: http://tinyurl.com/mabuhaydiy2011journal

I hope March has been good to you too.

What I’ve been up to: September 2016

At the start of the year, I named this year: The Year of Abundance. I was thinking that I wanted more money haha because to be quite honest I was really challenged in that area (maybe because I have hoarding tendencies and the urge to stresseat haha). Now that we’re in our Ber months, I’m happy to report that this year proved to be super abundant for me, and not just money-wise (still figuring that area out lol).

I was able to travel to new places where I got to tick off several items in my bucket list, meet a lot of new friends, test my skills in exciting but nerve-wracking activities and make lots of art! Still have a few months before 2016 closes and am sure I’ll have even more exciting surprises from the universe haha. Thanks, Universe! 🙂

In other news, I joined the workshop of Arlene Sy yesterday because I wanted to improve my flower-painting skills. She’s one of my idols because she’s so good at what she does and she has that distinct painting style which I adore. Her flowers look so fresh and alive and also delicately gorgeous.

The workshop was held at Te Amo Floristeria at BGC and wow, that place sure is pretty! I couldn’t stop taking photos of their flowers and floral arrangements. If I were rich I’d buy flowers daily because I’m just so obsessed with them and the way they freshen up a room and make people smile. 🙂

The snacks were from @alchemybymeryl and we got to take home one beautiful yummy box each! I think I squealed with delight lol when Arlene announced that because I’m pataygutom hahaha. And because the boxes looked delightful and I wanted to store my washi tapes in them haha.

We also got a surprise flower-arranging workshop with the sweet owner of Te Amo, Ms. Amy! 🙂 Kuya had to help me wrap mine because I wasn’t able to focus because I was so distracted by all the beautiful flowers haha sorry #shortattentionspan

Here’s my rose, and I almost gave up on it because it was not cooperating with me haha. I don’t usually paint with pencil lines so this was ultra – challenging for me:

I had to keep on adding shadows to it because it looked so flat at first. Accckkk.

I was excited about the impressionistic flowers because I like painting that way:

I need more practice but am happy that it’s a start! 🙂

Also, my washi tapes fit PERFECTLY in the empty macaron box so big whoop for that:

All in all yesterday was pretty amazing! Thanks, universe! 🙂

Let’s talk about art with #realtalktambay!

So honored and excited to be talking about creativity and art and making next Saturday at Local Edition for #realtalktambay! This is hosted by @ella_lama and here’s the poster:

There are a few slots left, so do click the link if you wanna join: http://bit.ly/realtalktambay

Also joining @getfiled’s fun challenge!

Constant creation is my #GoldenGoal in life because I believe it is the best, fastest, and easiest way to improve as a creative. Practice makes permanent, after all! 🙂

Can’t wait for the unveiling of the @getfiled 2017 planners! 🙌.  Planning on using it as an art journal and filling out mine with creative art prompts.

Will be talking more about daily practice in #realtalktambay and I’ll be sharing tips and techniques that might work for you if you want to try it as well. 🙂

Hope to see you there!!

P.s. Here are some bouquets from my #30daysofimpressionisticbouquets using colors from the #colorexploration challenge:

What I’ve been up to: April/May 2016

Having such a productive summer this year, filled with art and creative magic. 🙂

Started a series of after work capsule workshops for watercolor and here are my students! So proud of them:

I will be doing a journaling demo this May 7, in the Pagtitipon event above! See more details here: bit.ly/pagtitipon

I made the rubbercut bookplate and rubbercut stamps above, because I was so inspired by my collab with @kraftkart!  I designed book-themed stamps and she carved them by hand:

I also sold my handpainted gilded stickers at the BGC art mart this past weekend, sharing a booth with my good friend @ella_lama:

The day before that, my #artitas and I had a handmade sticker swap party and here’s my loot:

I have a handful of commission work that gets me excited and a trip coming up soon and I can’t be happier. Am also on day 14 of my #100daysofhandsketches in #the100dayproject and I am slowly being accustomed to drawing my hand without a pencil outline, so yay! 🙂

Hope you’re having a happy and productive summer as well. 🙂

Calligraphy on tote bags

I felt so happy when my friend Geli invited me to join her for an afternoon of painting tote bags for Avon. It was an exciting opportunity for me, since I’d be writing on bags as per requests of the clients. It would also be an on-the-spot affair, so double the excitement! And jitters too, to be honest. But the people from Avon were so warm and friendly and after some time we found ourselves cracking jokes with them while working:

This was my first customer and I hope she liked it! Apologies for the blurry photo, I think I got too excited when I took this shot haha.

We also met two very talented ladies who will also do calligraphy on the tote bags alongside us. They were only in highschool but I’m already certain they’d go places soon. 🙂

Thank you again, Geli and Avon for this fantastic opportunity. Hope the ladies liked their customized tote bags. 🙂

Icons of a typical workday

Inspired by a skillshare project from the noun project, I made handdrawn icons describing a typical workday:
Instagram, tea, a bit of exercise, art before breakfast, check the time, I might be late, make more art if there’s more time, read a bit if there’s time, walk, buy coconut juice, walk, wait for the light to be green, underpass, walk, admire the flowers, stairs, powder my sweaty self, toast my bread for my second breakfast, work, listen to music, sneak artmaking during lunch break 🙂
